Locomotives and rolling stock

"Christina" - Roundhouse Millie 0-4-0

"Christina" is an early Roundhouse Millie. She is gas fired with a pot boiler and slip eccentic vale gear. She has a Bywater brass dome, and was lined by Lightline. She is an excellent performer and will steam freely for at least 45 minutes per fill, pulling all the rolling stock I own.

IP Engineering Jane 0-4-0

This gas fired loco was bought second hand on eBay. Although in mechanically good condition, its boiler paint had flaked off in many places. The loco was disassembled, and the boiler stripped then repainted with Hammerite barbeque paint which is heat resistant to 600 deg C. This matt paint quickly acquired a nice sheen from the hot oil spat out from the chimney.

Accucraft Baguley Drewery

Fitted with a Brian Jones Mac Five II controller and Hitech 27MHz radio control.

Large Thomas the Tank Engine

Thomas is the definate star of the line as far as children are concerned. The body is from a remote controlled toy. This is mounted on a Lima O gauge 12V chassis that used to live under an LMS 4F. Thomas is now powered by four AA batteries, and will pull a couple of light coaches.

Small Thomas the Tank Engine

This is a simple conversion of a My First Thomas toy.

German diesel - Faller

This is one of three Faller Playtrain bodies that I am adapting for use by children.

Former locomotives which have been sold on

Cheddar Hercules 0-6-0

This is a very powerful radio controlled loco with a tender which holds enough gas and water for up to 90 minutes of steaming. It also has a wonderfully loud whistle which really adds to the atmosphere.

Orenstein & Koppel diesel - Fendyke

The O&K diesel was purchased second hand, and was built from a Fendyke kit. She has a small motor powered by two AA batteries, and will haul a light load of a few skips or a single coach.

C.M.G.R. No.3 - Perfect World Woodpecker tram kit

Tram No.3 bears a passing resemblance to Toby the Tram engine. I built her from a Perfect World kit and 6-12V chassis controlled by a simple manual speed contoller. Her wooden body is varnished.

Lister diesel - I.P.Engineering kit

The Lister was built from an I.P.Engineering kit, and painted with Vauxhall jade green. Like the O&K, she will pull a few skips with her small motor powered by two AA batteries.
